 Tumaini Counseling Centre is located in Karen, a residential community on the southwest side of Nairobi, just off of Langata Road between Langata South Road and Hillcrest School.
Driving Direction
From town (Nairobi) go west of Wilson Airport on Langata Road approximately 7 km. Once you pass the Langata South Road and Nairobi Academy sign, it is an additional 0.5 km west on Langata. On the left there are signs for the "Red Brick Hotel" and "Tumaini". Turn left on the muram road and then take the first left which will take you past the entrance to the Red Brick Hotel. Tumaini is the first gate on you right after pass the hotel.
From Karen Shops and the Nakumatt Crossroads Shopping Centre, go east on Langata Road, headed toward town for about 5 km. Approximately 1 km after passing Hillcrest School, turn right on the muram road that is marked with signs for the "Red Brick Hotel" and "Tumaini". Follow the directions as above.
Public Transportation Directions
- Those coming from downtown can take a City Hoppa bus No. 24 from Ambassador bus stop, opposite Kencom Building. This shuttles passes through Uhuru Highway, Langata Road then Ngong Road. Visitors to Tumaini should alight at the junction of Langata Road and Langata South Road, the stage is called Mamba or stage 12. The shuttle will turn left towards the Langata South Road. Do not follow the direction of the bus but continue on Langata road. Walk up for about ½ Kilometre. Turn left at the sign of Redbrick Hotel; follow the signpost of the hotel. Tumaini is Just next to Redbrick hotel. Alternatively you can pick Matatu no. 125/126 to Ronga, and alight at Bomas. From Bomas pick a Karen C matatu no. 24 and alight at Red Brick.
- Those on Ngong road can also pick a City Hoppa bus No. 24; this passes through Karen shopping center and joins Langata Road. Those using this bus should alight at Langata South Road; the shuttle will take a right turn and drive towards town. Tumaini Keep left, walk in the opposite direction from the direction the shuttle takes for about ½ Kilometre. Turn in at the Red Brick Hotel junction, follow the sign post of Redbrick Hotel.
- Those coming from Karen can pick a Karen C matatu no. 24 just opposite Nakumatt. Alight at Redbrick and follow the signpost.
